Calabar, Cross River State — The Executive Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has formally received the eight national honours won by the State, its digital platform and technology partner, Nugi Technologies Nig. Ltd., at the 2026 Nigeria eGovernment Excellence Awards.

The awards were presented to the Governor by the Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Associate Professor Justin Beshel, alongside representatives of Nugi Technologies Nig. Ltd.
The eight honours are:
- Governor of the Year – Digital Revenue & IGR Innovation – Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu
- State Digital Policy Leader of the Year – Associate Professor Justin Beshel
- Best State Mobile Government Initiative – Cross River State Government
- Most Improved State eGovernment Service Deployment – Cross River State Government
- GovTech Innovation of the Year – My Cross River App
- Best Government Payment Solution – My Cross River App
- E-Government Technology Partner of the Year – Nugi Technologies Nig. Ltd.
- E-Government Startup of the Year – Nugi Technologies Nig. Ltd.

The recognition cuts across the key components of Cross River’s digital governance journey: leadership, policy, government services, citizen-facing technology and technical partnership.

Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s award for Digital Revenue & IGR Innovation recognises the use of technology to strengthen revenue administration and improve the systems supporting government revenue.
The recognition of the Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation as State Digital Policy Leader of the Year highlights the policy direction supporting the State’s digital agenda.
The two awards received by the Cross River State Government recognise progress in deploying digital government services and bringing government closer to citizens through technology.
At the citizen-facing level, the My Cross River App was recognised as GovTech Innovation of the Year and Best Government Payment Solution, reinforcing its role in connecting residents with government services, information and digital transactions.

NUGI TECHNOLOGIES’ ROLE
The recognition of Nugi Technologies Nig. Ltd. as E-Government Technology Partner of the Year and E-Government Startup of the Year further highlights the technical capacity supporting Cross River’s digital transformation.
As a technology partner to the State Government, Nugi Technologies has contributed to the development and deployment of digital platforms and infrastructure supporting public service delivery.

The achievement therefore reflects more than individual awards. It demonstrates how government leadership, digital policy, technology and private sector expertise can come together to build a connected digital government ecosystem.
