The Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Prof. Francisca Bassey, has undertaken an extensive inspection of infrastructural projects at the University’s Ogoja Campus as part of efforts to improve facilities and create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
Prof. Bassey, accompanied by her management team, visited various project sites across the campus, including previously abandoned projects and those currently under construction.
During the inspection, the Vice Chancellor and her team assessed the state, quality and level of work at the different sites, identifying areas requiring correction, improvement and further intervention.
The exercise also provided an opportunity for the University management to evaluate progress on ongoing projects and determine appropriate measures for completing, improving and optimising available facilities across the campus.
Prof. Bassey stressed the importance of developing infrastructure that responds to the academic and administrative needs of the University while supporting effective teaching and learning.
She said the University’s infrastructure must provide staff and students with a safe, comfortable and conducive environment in which academic activities can thrive.
The Vice Chancellor also emphasised the need for proper utilisation of existing spaces and facilities, noting that available infrastructure should be strategically managed to serve both the University’s present needs and its future expansion.
She further directed attention to areas where existing facilities could be improved or repurposed, ensuring that investments in infrastructure deliver maximum value to the University community.
