"HEALTH RECORDS MATTER: Officers Urge Govt to Act"

The Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria, Cross River State chapter, has made a heartfelt appeal to the Local Government Service Commission to prioritize registered health records practitioners in the state's recruitment exercises During a courtesy visit to the Chairman Mr. Darlington Eyo, yesterday in his office .

The President, Mrs. Paulina Tuku emphasized the critical role health records officers play in healthcare, citing the alarming shortage of qualified professionals.

The shortage has led to inaccurate medical records and compromised health care delivery, particularly in primary healthcare centers. Mr. Offiong Asuquo, the South-South Coordinator, urged the government to prioritize employing trained and registered health records officers, stressing that proper planning and decision-making depend on accurate health data.

Chairman Eyo acknowledged the issues raised, while thanking Governor Bassey Otu for recent employment initiatives, and assured the delegation that the issues would be addressed, including employing only registered health records/information management practitioners.
