The Cross River State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment has organized an in-house training programme for newly employed staff to strengthen professionalism, discipline, and effective service delivery.
The training, held on Monday, August 31, 2026, exposed newly recruited officers to the principles, policies, and administrative procedures guiding the public service, as well as the mandate, vision, and operations of the Ministry.
Declaring the training open, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Philomena Nyiam, stressed the need for diligence in service.
“Punctuality, regular attendance and strict adherence to official working hours are non-negotiable. Teamwork, mutual respect and cooperation are the bedrock of a successful Ministry,” she said.
Mrs. Nyiam urged the participants to approach their duties with dedication and commitment, adding that “your conduct and attitude to work will determine how far we achieve the objectives of this Ministry.”
In a session on Financial Regulations, the facilitator, Mrs. Effanga Henshaw, emphasized the importance of compliance.
“Public servants must understand and properly apply financial regulations, especially in budget implementation and approvals, in line with Cross River State Government guidelines,” she stated.
Mr. Ubi Oka, who handled the session on the Ministry’s mandate, vision and mission, provided clarity on the strategic direction of the Ministry and the expectations from staff.
The Director of Administration, *Mr. Victor Agbor*, in his session on General Administrative Principles, advised the officers to study the Cross River State Public Service Manual.
“Avoid lateness, loitering, absenteeism, improper dressing and other acts of indiscipline. Professionalism and discipline are indispensable,” he cautioned.
He further encouraged them to embrace challenging assignments. “Difficult tasks are opportunities for learning and growth. Officers who accept challenges with an open mind will build competence and contribute meaningfully to organizational development,” he said.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Agbor thanked the resource persons and charged the new officers to apply the knowledge acquired.
“Uphold the values of unity, mutual respect, teamwork and togetherness for the growth and success of the Ministry,” he concluded.
The training reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to building a disciplined, knowledgeable, and professional workforce to drive its mandate and contribute to the socio-economic development of Cross River State.
