Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has re-echoed the importance of the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise, urging Cross River and Nigerian youths to arm themselves with their cards ahead of the next general elections.
The governor gave the charge during a grand reception organized by Cross River State Political Network (CRISPON) to celebrate his 66th birthday, in Calabar.
The event attracted members of the Network across the seven (7) Local government areas in Cross River Southern Senatorial District.
He said the CVR exercise must be given all the attention it deserves as the country’s economic planning is largely dependent on numerical strength.
Otu assured that his administration is doing all possible to ensure that young people have the opportunities to grow. “And for the first time in the history of this state, we are going to witness something unique. I believe this week we are going to announce some of our social safety net and this will capture almost every member of CRISPON.”
Earlier, in his welcome remark, the Director General of CRISPON, Dr. Prince Michael Abuo, eulogized the governor for his sterling leadership qualities.
He said the occasion was an expression of love to a selfless and exemplary leader, who often considers the masses interest first before personal gains.
Abuo, who is also the State Coordinator of AUDA-NEPAD, lauded the governor’s unrivalled developmental strides barely two years in office; calling for sustainability.
