Calabar is set to attract global attention as the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) rolls out activities to mark the 25th anniversary of the physical coronation of its spiritual leader, Olumba Olumba Obu.
The announcement was made during a press briefing at the Sen. Bassey Otu Hall, State Library Complex, where the spokesman of the organisation, Dr. Amah Williams, outlined a week-long programme of events tagged “The Universal Monarch.”
According to Williams, the Silver Jubilee celebration commemorates the April 14, 2001 coronation of Olumba Obu, which members describe as a spiritually significant milestone rooted in biblical prophecy and the glorification of Christ.
He noted that the celebration coincides with the Easter season, drawing a spiritual connection between the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and what the Brotherhood regards as the manifestation of divine glory.
“It has been twenty-five years since the physical coronation of the King of kings and Lord of lords, whose reign continues to transform lives, restore hope, and usher humanity into an era of peace, love and righteousness,” he said.
The event will commence on April 13, 2026, at the BCS World Headquarters, featuring a series of activities including a special coronation day observance expected to attract traditional rulers and dignitaries from across the world.
Other highlights include free medical outreach, humanitarian services, academic conferences, consecration of bishops, musical performances by international choirs, and a grand finale scheduled for April 19 at the U. J. Esuene Stadium.
Williams emphasized that the celebration is open to all, regardless of religion, race, or status, describing it as a universal invitation to experience spiritual renewal and unity.
He also highlighted the global expansion of the Brotherhood over the past 25 years, noting its presence across continents through evangelical outreach and humanitarian activities.
The spokesman further conveyed messages of peace, unity, and responsible leadership, urging individuals and nations to embrace love, justice, and compassion in the face of global challenges.
In a goodwill message, the Secretary General of BCS, Senator Biobarakuma Degi, commended the media for its unwavering support and professionalism over the years, noting that journalists have played a critical role in promoting the organisation’s message of peace, unity, and righteousness globally. He described the Silver Jubilee as a unique opportunity to celebrate enduring values of love, moral leadership, and peaceful coexistence.
Degi also acknowledged challenges faced in spreading the Brotherhood’s message but expressed appreciation for the role of the press in fostering understanding and acceptance. He called for continued collaboration between the media and the organisation, urging journalists to remain committed to truth and to support efforts aimed at promoting global peace and unity.
The Brotherhood extended invitations to religious leaders, traditional rulers, government officials, the media, and the general public to participate in what is expected to be a landmark global spiritual event.
