The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has expanded its academic offerings with the introduction of 19 new programmes as it opens its 2026/2027 First-Choice Admission Screening Exercise for prospective students.
The new programmes, spread across the university’s Calabar and Okuku campuses, cover emerging and professional fields in architecture, engineering, computing, physical sciences and basic medical sciences, giving prospective students wider options in pursuing specialised careers.
In a statement signed by the Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Catherine Ndifon Osai, the university said candidates who selected UNICROSS as their first choice in the 2026 UTME and scored 150 and above are eligible to participate in the screening exercise.
The institution also opened an opportunity for candidates who did not initially select UNICROSS as their first choice in the 2026/2027 JAMB UTME/Direct Entry exercise, stating that they could effect a change of institution to UNICROSS through the JAMB website before proceeding with the application.
At the Calabar Campus, the new programmes include Architecture, Interior Architecture Design and Landscape Architecture under the Faculty of Architecture, while the Faculty of Engineering will offer Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Production and Material Engineering, Automotive Engineering and Water Resources Engineering.
The university has also introduced Science Laboratory Technology under the Faculty of Physical Science and Artificial Intelligence Engineering under the Faculty of Computing at the Calabar Campus.
At the Okuku Campus, the new programmes include Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy, Community Health Science, Forensic Science, Radiography, Pharmacology and Nursing Science under the Faculty of Basic Medical Science.
The university said eligible candidates are required to pay a screening fee of N2,000 through its online application portal using a Master, Visa or Verve ATM card, bank transfer or USSD.
Candidates are to access the UNICROSS Post-UTME registration portal at admissions.unicross.edu.ng, enter their JAMB registration number under the “New Candidate” section and proceed to purchase an E-PIN.
After payment, applicants are expected to verify their details, update their email addresses and telephone numbers, save their E-PIN and use it to log in and complete the application. They are also required to upload the necessary documents before reviewing and submitting the form, after which an acknowledgement slip can be printed.
The university stressed that the screening exercise would be conducted without requiring candidates to appear physically at the institution, advising applicants not to travel to Calabar or any other UNICROSS campus for the exercise.
Prospective students were also advised to confirm the location of the campus where their preferred programmes are domiciled before registering.
Applicants are required to upload properly scanned copies of their O’Level result(s), JAMB result slip and recent passport photograph. They must also ensure that the telephone numbers provided are accurate and that uploaded documents are not less than 50 kilobytes.
The introduction of the 19 programmes marks a significant expansion of UNICROSS’s academic portfolio, strengthening its capacity to offer training in fields aligned with emerging professional, technological and healthcare needs.
The university urged eligible candidates to take advantage of the expanded academic opportunities and complete their applications with accurate information, while providing the following helplines for enquiries: 08189351784, 09015055999, 09053310247, 09068968666 and 07071919527.
