APC Repositions for 2027 as Etta Charges Chapter Chairmen on Party Supremacy, Unity, Discipline

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Hon. Chris Sunny Etta, has charged newly inaugurated local government chapter chairmen of the party to uphold the principles of party supremacy, unity and discipline as they assume leadership of the party’s grassroots structures across the state.

Etta gave the charge in Calabar during the inauguration of the chapter chairmen, reminding them that their emergence represents a call to service and a strategic responsibility to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He cautioned the new officials against allowing personal ambitions or the influence of political sponsors to overshadow the collective interest of the party, stressing that their foremost duty is to protect and advance the ideals of the APC at the local government level.

“Your election is a call to duty, not an opportunity to serve the interest of any godfather or to build personal influence,” Etta said. “You must work as a team with your executives. The party must always come first. Make yourselves accessible to party members and remain responsive to their needs.”

The state chairman emphasized that as leaders at the grassroots, the chapter chairmen must conduct their affairs with integrity, transparency and accountability, noting that their emergence reflects the confidence reposed in them by party faithful in their respective council areas.

He further urged the officials to commence work immediately in view of the demanding political activities ahead, including preparations for the party’s zonal congress and national convention.

“There is no time to waste,” he said. “You are expected to inaugurate your ward executives this weekend and report back to the secretariat by Monday. Strong grassroots coordination will be critical to our success as a party.”

Responding on behalf of the chapter chairmen, Chief Kevin Njong pledged their loyalty to the party and its leadership, assuring members that they were fully prepared to deliver on the mandate entrusted to them.

“We have been given a clear responsibility and we understand what is expected of us. We will work tirelessly to promote unity and strengthen the APC across Cross River State,” Njong said.

The inauguration comes on the heels of the recent election of a 36-member State Executive Committee of the APC, led by Hon. Chris Etta, to steer the affairs of the party in Cross River State for the next four years, a development party leaders say signals renewed unity and strategic repositioning ahead of the 2027 elections.
