‎CALY AIR DRIVING ECONOMIC GROWTH, TOURISM AND CONNECTIVITY IN CROSS RIVER – AVIATION COMMISSIONER

‎The Cross River State Government's investment in Cally AIr is yielding significant economic and social benefits for residents and businesses, according to the State Commissioner for Aviation Captain Eno Utum Inah (Retd), who has described the indigenous airline as a strategic instrument for economic transformation, tourism development and improved connectivity.

‎Speaking during an exclusive interview, the Commissioner Eno said Cally Air has become one of the most visible achievements of the People-First Administration of Governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, providing reliable air transportation services while positioning Cross River State as a major destination for investment, tourism and commerce.

‎According to him, the establishment of Cally Air was conceived to address the persistent challenges of inadequate air connectivity to and from Calabar, reduce the burden of expensive and irregular flights, and create a platform through which the state's economic potential could be fully harnessed. ‎"The vision behind Cally Air is much broader than simply operating flights. It is about opening up Cross River State to the rest of Nigeria and the world. It is about creating opportunities for businesses, tourists, investors and ordinary citizens to move conveniently and safely," he stated.

‎The Commissioner noted that since commencing operations, Cally Air has enhanced accessibility to Cross River State by providing more dependable flight schedules and increasing passenger confidence in air travel to Calabar.

‎He explained that improved connectivity has had a direct impact on commerce, hospitality and tourism, sectors that constitute critical pillars of the state's economy.

‎"Cross River is blessed with immense tourism assets, from the Obudu Mountain Resort to the annual Calabar Carnival and numerous eco-tourism destinations. Easy accessibility remains a major factor in tourism development. Cally Air is helping to bridge that gap by making travel to Cross River more seamless and attractive," he said.

‎The aviation helmsman further revealed that the airline has contributed to job creation through direct and indirect employment opportunities in aviation operations, airport services, hospitality, logistics and allied sectors.

‎According to him, local businesses are already benefiting from increased passenger traffic, resulting in greater patronage of hotels, restaurants, transportation services and commercial establishments across the state.

‎Captain Eno emphasized that the economic multiplier effect generated by the airline is gradually stimulating broader economic activities and attracting investor interest. ‎"Every flight that lands in Calabar brings economic value. Passengers spend money in hotels, patronize local businesses, use transportation services and engage in commercial activities. This circulation of resources strengthens the local economy and creates employment opportunities for our people," he explained.

‎The Commissioner also highlighted the role of Cally Air in supporting government activities and enhancing administrative efficiency by facilitating faster movement of officials, investors and development partners.

‎He disclosed that the State Government is working to strengthen the airline's operational capacity and expand its route network to serve more destinations across the country.

‎On safety and service delivery, the Commissioner assured passengers that the airline remains committed to adhering to all aviation regulations and industry best practices, emphasizing that passenger safety remains the highest priority.

‎"We are determined to build an airline that Cross Riverians can proudly call their own. Our focus is on safety, reliability, efficiency and customer satisfaction. We want Cally Air to become a symbol of excellence in Nigeria's aviation industry," he remarked.

‎The Commissioner commended Governor Bassey Edet Otu for demonstrating visionary leadership in supporting the aviation sector, noting that the administration's investments in air transportation infrastructure and services are laying a solid foundation for sustainable economic growth.

‎He maintained that the future of Cally Air remains promising, expressing optimism that continued investments and strategic partnerships would further enhance the airline's capacity to contribute to the socio-economic development of the State.

‎"As we continue to expand and improve operations, Cross Riverians will reap even greater benefits. Cally Air is not merely an airline; it is an economic development vehicle, a tourism enabler and a catalyst for prosperity. It represents the Governor's commitment to building a more connected, competitive and economically vibrant Cross River State," the Commissioner concluded.

‎Industry observers have described Cally Air as a bold intervention in the aviation sector, noting that the initiative aligns with the broader economic diversification agenda of the Otu administration aimed at transforming Cross River into a preferred destination for investment, tourism and business activities in Nigeria.
