The Commissioner for Education in Cross River State, Senator Professor Stephen Odey, Esq., on Sunday joyfully celebrated the New Year with the people of Yache Nation and supporters drawn from across the Local Government Areas of Cross River North, in a colourful gathering marked by unity, gratitude, and large-scale empowerment.
The well-attended celebration attracted party faithfuls, community leaders, and well-wishers from across the zone. It featured far-reaching empowerment initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening grassroots support. Items distributed included cars, motorcycles, sewing machines, over 300 bags of rice, cash support, and other essential materials to beneficiaries across communities.
In his address, Senator Professor Odey extended warm New Year greetings to the people and reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to human capital development, social welfare, and inclusive growth across Cross River North. He emphasized that empowering the people remains central to his public service philosophy.
Professor Odey also pledged his continued loyalty and support to the administration of His Excellency, Governor Bassey Otu, noting that the Governor’s “People First” mantra aligns seamlessly with his vision of grassroots empowerment, sustainable development, and improved quality of life for all citizens of the state.
The event further underscored the Commissioner’s dedication to grassroots engagement, unity, and service to humanity, reinforcing his reputation as a leader deeply connected to the aspirations of the people.
Dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Hon. Boniface Okache, who represented His Excellency and commended Senator Odey for his exemplary leadership and consistent empowerment initiatives across Cross River North, describing him as a trusted and tested leader.
Also speaking, Hon. Odey Brian, Member representing Yala I State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, praised Professor Odey for his uncommon generosity and people-centred leadership style. Several top government officials, political leaders, and key stakeholders were also present to share in the celebration.
