C'River Welcomes Foreign Partners to Eburutu Fisheries Project

The Honourable Commissioner for Social Welfare and Community Development, Prof. Margaret Ene-Ita, alongside the Director of Social Welfare, Mrs. Komomo D. Obeten, has welcomed foreign partners collaborating on the proposed Eburutu Fisheries Industry project in Cross River State.

The initiative is expected to strengthen the State's fisheries sector while creating employment opportunities, promoting sustainable livelihoods and improving economic participation among vulnerable communities.

Welcoming the partners, the Commissioner emphasised that the project extends beyond fisheries development, describing it as a strategic intervention aimed at reducing poverty, empowering vulnerable groups and opening new pathways for economic inclusion.

She reaffirmed that promoting the welfare of vulnerable persons remains central to the Ministry's mandate, noting that initiatives such as the Eburutu Fisheries Industry align with the State Government's commitment to improving the quality of life of its citizens.

The involvement of the foreign partners presents an opportunity for international collaboration, investment and the exchange of technical expertise to support the development of a sustainable fisheries industry. Such partnerships, if effectively implemented, could enhance local production, strengthen value chains and create opportunities for skills development and community-based enterprise.

The Ministry expressed optimism that the initiative would contribute to inclusive economic growth and improved livelihoods across Cross River State.
