The Cross River State Government has endorsed Awade Jacob Awade, popularly known as Awaade of Lagos, on his ongoing attempt to break the Guinness World Record for Theatre-thon by an individual.
Speaking at the venue for the attempt, the State Commissioner for Information, Erasmus Ekpang, stated that the government is aware of the official attempt undertaken by the young Cross Riverian with assurances of massive support.
Ekpang added that in pursuit of shaping the destinies of Cross Riverians through the ‘People First’ mantra of the current administration, the government will stop at nothing in promoting noble ideas that place the state on the global map for good.
Assuring periodic visits and material support for the project, the state information boss reaffirmed the administration’s dexterity in restoring human dignity.
Ekpang was accompanied by the Commissioner for Finance, Michael Odere, during the visit.
Currently, Awade is attempting to break a record set by Adrian Hilton in 1987.
The longest marathon theatre performance by an individual, a Guinness World Record, was achieved by Adrian Hilton (UK), who recited the complete works of Shakespeare for 110 hours and 46 minutes.
Thus far, the Theatre-thon challenge of 120 hours has been accomplished over 110 hours and counting.
