The Cross River State Government is hosting a technical networking meeting with a group of oil palm investors, led by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Oil Palm Produce Association of Nigeria (OPGAN), in collaboration with the state Ministry of Agriculture.
The meeting of stakeholders engaged in agriculture is taking place barely a week after the state hosted the National Council on Agriculture, which assembled the 36 states of the federation in the state capital to discuss development directions for agricultural development in Nigeria.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Irrigation management, Mr. Johnson Ebokpo, revealed that Governor Bassey Otu is driving fundamental developments and investments in agriculture that will make Cross River stand out as a major revenue earner and exemplary in agricultural development.
Following the meeting, the investor team toured significant oil palm plantations, including Wilmar Farms in Awi and JB Farms in the Oban community, both located in the Akamkpa Local Government Area.
