The Cross River State Ministry of Education has released the results of the 2025/2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and Senior Secondary School II (SS II) Mock Examination, recording pass rates of 90.5 per cent and 86 per cent respectively across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
The results were formally presented to the Commissioner for Education, Senator Prof. Stephen A. Odey, by the Director, Education Resource Centre, Dr. Moses Agboreyo, and the Director of Examinations and Certificates, Mr. Asuquo Amaku, on Monday at the Ministry’s headquarters in Calabar.
The 2025/2026 BECE recorded a 90.5 per cent pass rate, while 3.8 per cent of candidates failed and 5.7 per cent of results were withheld for various reasons. The SS II Mock Examination recorded an 86 per cent pass rate, with 14 per cent of candidates failing across public and private schools in the state.
Approving the release of the results, Senator Odey commended the examination team for improving the examination process, particularly through enhanced checks in the compilation, verification and processing of candidates’ scores.

He said the improved performance and transparent examination process reflected the Ministry’s ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening the integrity, credibility and transparency of examinations in Cross River State.
“The future of our students must be protected, and their academic efforts must be given the credibility they deserve. Any act capable of compromising the integrity of our examination system will not be tolerated,” Odey said.
The Commissioner warned that negligence, examination malpractice and any attitude capable of undermining the integrity of the examination system would attract appropriate sanctions, stressing that the state would continue to uphold standards in the conduct of examinations.
Senator Odey commended Governor Bassey Edet Otu for providing the necessary funding and support that enabled the Ministry to successfully conduct the statewide examinations.
He also applauded the Director, Education Resource Centre, Dr. Moses Agboreyo, the Director of Examinations and Certificates, Mr. Asuquo Amaku, and other management staff for their commitment and diligence, particularly the sacrifices made beyond regular working hours to facilitate the timely processing and release of the results.
The Commissioner directed students and parents to access the examination portal to check their results, noting that early access would enable candidates and their parents to adequately prepare for the new academic session.
He further directed candidates who encountered difficulties accessing their results online to visit their respective schools and seek assistance from their Head Teachers or other designated school authorities.
The Commissioner reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to continuous improvement in the conduct and administration of examinations, with emphasis on accountability, transparency and high academic standards across basic and secondary education.
He said the latest results demonstrated the state government’s determination to build an education system in which quality, credibility and academic excellence remained the standard.
