Cross River State Government, Nugi Technologies Nig. Ltd and Sterling Bank Enhances Land Cluster Operations with New Vehicle Fleet for Efficiency

Government officials, stakeholders, and partners gathered in Calabar to mark a significant milestone in Cross River State’s land administration sector. In a move to enhance efficiency and transparency, the State Government, in collaboration with Nugi Technologies Nig. Ltd and Sterling Bank, officially handed over seven new vehicles to the land cluster.

The event, held at Cross River State Ministry of Lands and Urban Development on March 19th, 2025 at 9:00 AM, was not just a symbolic gesture but a statement of intent; one that reinforces the Governor's “People First” Mantra by restoring confidence in all lands-related operations. Six Brand New Toyota Hilux Trucks and One Toyota Hiace Bus were distributed amongst the three agencies: the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development, Office of the Surveyor General, and Cross River Geographic Information Agency (CRGIA).

Addressing the attendees, the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development, Chief Francis Ekpeyong, highlighted the broader implications of the initiative. He explained that with these new vehicles, his team would be better equipped to execute land-related assignments across the State effectively. According to him, the move sets a new standard for operational efficiency, ensuring that land services in the State meet national and global best practices.

Mr. William Archibong, the Director General of CRGIA, emphasized that adding these vehicles would enhance the agency’s ability to conduct surveys, inspections, and mapping exercises with greater speed and accuracy. He expressed his appreciation to the Governor of Cross River State and the consultants for prioritizing efficiency in land management.

Echoing similar sentiments, Surveyor General of the State, Mr. Patrick Edet Bassey described the initiative as a pivotal step in streamlining operations in the lands cluster. He also expressed gratitude to the Governor of Cross River State for restoring confidence in the Lands Cluster, emphasizing that this renewed trust would enhance efficiency and drive improvements in land administration and service delivery.

He also expressed gratitude to the consultants, Nugi Technologies Nig. Ltd, for implementing advanced software solutions, including a Land Administrative System for efficient data management, a Digital Mapping System for precise land mapping, and an Automated Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) Processing System to accelerate property documentation.

Ajoke Akinlabi, the Acting CEO of Nugi Technologies Nig. Ltd, stated that the company has successfully deployed software applications to the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development, the Office of the Surveyor General, and the Cross River State Geographic Information Agency. She explained that these digital solutions have improved workflows, enhanced data accuracy, and streamlined land administration processes.

She said the vehicles provided were not just assets but essential tools enabling land personnel to carry out fieldwork efficiently. This deployment, she added, was a clear sign that the Lands Cluster is fully operational and ready to deliver better services to the citizens. Beyond the vehicles, Nugi Technologies Nig. Ltd also provided computers, drones, printers, and accessories to support land mapping, surveying, and other critical field operations, ensuring seamless execution of tasks.

Similarly, Chidinma Onyemaizu, a representative from Sterling Bank, commended Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu for creating a business-friendly environment that encourages private sector involvement in the State’s development. She noted that collaborations like this pave the way for sustainable progress.

As the keys were officially handed over, there was a collective sense of excitement in the air. Directors and Staff from the Ministry of Lands, CRGIA, and the Office of the Surveyor General were equally present to grace this initiative as the vehicles were presented to various land clusters, ready for immediate deployment.

This initiative marks a new chapter in Cross River State’s approach to land administration; one driven by innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence. Citizens can now expect faster C of O processing, transparent land transactions, and easy payments for land transactions.
