Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has approved the appointment of Mrs Fidelia Okpo Ene as the new chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, on Monday, the governor commended Mrs Ene, describing her as a seasoned administrator and passionate advocate for quality education with a vast wealth of experience and dedication.

He charged the new SUBEB chairman to bring vision, integrity, and reform-driven zeal to the role, stressing that his administration remained committed to repositioning education as the bedrock of human capital development.

“This appointment is in line with our People First agenda, as we continue to reposition education as the bedrock of human capital development.

“I am confident she will help us strengthen the foundation of learning for our children across Cross River State”, the statement read.

The governor further enjoined Mrs Ene to bring expertise and vision that would elevate the standards of basic education in the state.
