The Cross River State Head of Service, Mr Orok, Bassey Okon has inaugurated the Performance Management Framework Committee and the Curriculum Design Committee for the Management Development Institute (MDI) as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen efficiency, accountability, and capacity development within the State Civil Service.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Head of Service emphasized the State Government’s commitment to repositioning the Civil Service for optimal performance and aligning it with modern public service standards.
The Performance Management Framework Committee is tasked with the purpose of institutionalizing a culture of results-oriented performance among civil servants. Its primary objective is to develop a robust, result-based performance management framework that aligns with the government’s strategic plans and policy priorities. This initiative is expected to ensure that productivity, accountability, and measurable outcomes become central to public service delivery in the state.
Similarly, the Curriculum Design Project Committee for the Management Development Institute (MDI) was inaugurated with the purpose of establishing a Public Service Leadership Academy featuring radically upgraded infrastructure and training facilities. The project aims to align with national public service reforms and capacity-building strategies. In addition, the committee will identify current and future competency needs of civil servants through comprehensive needs assessments and stakeholder consultations, ensuring that the institute’s curriculum meets evolving administrative demands.
In their separate remarks, the chairmen of both committees commended the Head of Service for this innovative and forward-looking initiative. They pledged their commitment to diligently executing their respective mandates, promising to deliver outcomes that will strengthen public service professionalism and enhance overall governance performance in Cross River State.
The event was graced with the presence of both serving and retired Permanent Secretaries and Directors in the Service.
