Easter celebration: Cross River Governor, Speaker felicitate Christians

Bassey Otu, Governor of Cross River State and Elvert Ayambem, speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly, have felicitated Christians all over the world and in the state on the celebration of Easter. The governor, who in a statement by Gill Nsa, his chief press secretary and the speaker through Stanley Okon Nsemo, member representing Calabar Municipality, noted that, Easter marks the end of the Lenten season, which culminates in the celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ the saviour of the world. The duo called on all Christians to reflect on the significance of Easter, which is sacrifice, forgiveness, humility and love while emphasizing the need for all to practice the teachings of Jesus Christ. “As we celebrate Easter let us remember the supreme sacrifice of our saviour, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross of Calvary for the remission of our sins. Let us reflect on the lessons of Easter, which are centered on love, humility, forgiveness and sacrifice. Let us strive to live in peace with one another as this will enhance the progress of our dear state. “From the creeks of Bakassi to the hills of Obanlikwu, we wish you a very happy and blessed Easter celebration. “We are here for you and we will continue to work in your interest,” Ayambem said. The speaker further called on Cross Riverians to remind law abiding as the present administration of Bassey Edet Otu is poised to improve all sectors of the state for the benefit of all citizens through his People First Mantra. He wished all Christians a happy Easter celebration.
