The Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Edet Otu, has approved the appointment of a chairman and six commissioners for the state’s Local Government Service Commission as part of efforts to strengthen the administration of local government council.
The appointments were announced in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh.
According to the statement, Barr. Eyo Nsa Ekpo has been appointed Chairman of the Commission, while Dr. Ekeng Effiong Edet will serve as Commissioner I.
Other members of the commission include Dr. Emmanuel Itakui Ntuyan as Commissioner II, Dr. Godwin Ondale Akpor as Commissioner III, Hon. Obia Lawrence Bassey as Commissioner IV, Hon. Rita Ayim as Commissioner V, and Hon. John Olom Otu as Commissioner VI.
The statement noted that the governor’s action is driven by his commitment to strengthening the viability of the local government system in the state and ensuring adherence to constitutional provisions guiding local government administration.
The appointments take immediate effect.
