The Governor of Cross River State, Prince Bassey Otu, was on Wednesday honored as the Tourism and Hospitality Champion at the 2nd Nigeria Broadcasting Awards (TNBA), held at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja.
The award, organized by the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON), was received on behalf of the Governor by the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, amidst a gathering of media titans, industry leaders, and policy makers.
BON conferred the honor on Governor Otu in recognition of his transformative leadership in repositioning Cross River State as one of Africa’s leading tourism hub.
In a poignant moment for the state, the ceremony also featured a posthumous award for the Cross River-born broadcaster Okokon Ndem, celebrated for his iconic contributions to the history of Nigerian radio.
The event also recognized other notable national leaders, including the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, who received an Award of Excellence, and the Honorable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, who was also honored for his contributions to the industry.
The Deputy Governor’s high-powered delegation included several top members of the state’s leadership, including the Senator representing the Central Senatorial District, Senator Eteng Jones Williams; Member representing the Obubra/Ikom Federal Constituency, Hon. Mike Etaba; Special Adviser, Liaison Office Abuja, Sarah Archibong; Special Adviser, National Assembly Matters, Hon. Chris Ogar; Special Adviser Media, Emmanuel Ogbeche; Special Adviser, Information and Public Relations, Azogor Ideba ,and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Linus Obogo, among other senior officials.
