The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu has signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill into Law.
Senator Bassey Otu presented the 2025 budget estimates to the Assembly on October 29, 2024, christened “Budget of Sustainable Growth” with the sum of N498 Billion – N328 billion (66%) as Capital Expenditure and N170 (34%) for Recurrent Expenditure.
The Governor while signing the bill in the late hours of Christmas Eve December 24th, 2024 in Calabar, said it is designed to propel the State into a new dimension of economic growth, with a clear focus on key factors that will drive sustainable progress.
“We are energized and fully prepared to deliver on our promise of effective service to the people. Together, let’s build a brighter future.”
Other sectoral allocations in the bill include N16 billion for Aviation, 15 billion for Special Duties/ Intergovernmental Affairs,14 billion for Power, 11 billion for Agriculture, 5 billion for Tourism, 4.7 billion for Science, Technology, and innovation, 3.7 billion for Women Affairs, 3 billion for Information and 181.6 billion for others.
During the signing of the N538bln budget, he was flanked on both sides by the Speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem; the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations Hon. Cyril James Omini, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget Mr. Otu Otu Ita.
