In a strategic move aimed at reinforcing institutional continuity and honoring the legacy of retired senior civil servants, the Cross River State Head of Service (HOS), Orok Bassey Okon Esq., has allocated office space to the state chapter of the Association of Retired State Permanent Secretaries of Nigeria (ARSPSON).
The decision followed a courtesy visit by the association to the Head of Service, during which members requested a functional secretariat and greater integration into relevant state activities.
The newly allocated office underscores the administration's commitment to fostering collaboration between serving and retired top civil servants.
Speaking on behalf of the association, its Chairman, Barr. Emmanuel Enamhe, expressed deep appreciation to the Head of Service for what he described as a timely and thoughtful intervention. He noted that prior to this development, members had been compelled to hold meetings in private residences—a situation he said posed considerable logistical difficulties.
“This office space will go a long way in alleviating the challenges we have faced over time. It gives us a sense of identity and stability, and we assure the Head of Service that it will be put to maximum use,” Enamhe stated.
He further reaffirmed the association's readiness to contribute its wealth of experience to the growth and development of the state’s civil service, particularly through mentorship and advisory roles.
The event was attended by other executives of ARSPSON as well as serving permanent secretaries from the Office of the Head of Service, highlighting a shared commitment to unity, institutional memory, and sustained excellence in public service.
