The wife of the Cross River State Governor, Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, has commended the remarkable improvements recorded at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey.
Bishop Otu gave the commendation when the management of UNICROSS paid her a courtesy visit, urging the university management to sustain its developmental strides and strengthen the teamwork responsible for the progress being recorded.
A proud alumna of The Polytechnic Calabar, Bishop Otu expressed satisfaction with the pace of development and the facelift witnessed across the institution.
She particularly commended Prof. Bassey for the remarkable improvements achieved under her leadership, noting that she was impressed by the progress being made at UNICROSS.
The Governor’s wife reaffirmed her commitment to continuously supporting initiatives aimed at the development and advancement of the university, while appreciating the management for the thoughtfulness behind the gift presented to her.
She encouraged the university management to sustain its teamwork, commitment and developmental efforts, stressing the importance of collective responsibility in advancing the institution.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey, expressed the appreciation of the university management to Bishop Otu for her support and role in facilitating the recent historic visit of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to UNICROSS.
The First Lady’s visit to the university for the commissioning of the TETFund ICT Experience Centre at the Calabar Campus marked a historic milestone in the history of UNICROSS and further enhanced the visibility of the institution.
Prof. Bassey noted that the visit also underscored the importance of strategic relationships between the university and key stakeholders in Cross River State in advancing the institution’s development.
The courtesy visit climaxed with the Vice Chancellor presenting gift items to Bishop Otu. The gifts were artworks produced by students of the Department of Visual Arts and Technology.
The visit further strengthened the relationship between UNICROSS and key stakeholders in the state, reflecting the university management’s commitment to building partnerships that support the institution’s continued development and advancement.
Prof. Bassey was accompanied on the courtesy call by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Stella Maris-Okey; Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Thomas Ojikpong; Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Catherine Osai; University Librarian, Dr. Victoria Iyishu; Prof. Ajibade Babson of the Department of Visual Arts and Technology and immediate past Director of Academic Planning; Mrs. Emekpe Omong, Acting Head of Department of Visual Arts and Technology; among other principal officers of the university.
