In a stirring Christian service held today at Christ the King Catholic Church, Akim Army Barracks, Capt. (Rev.) DL Wala delivered a fiery sermon titled “Nigerians, Let the One Lose Heart!” challenging the nation to rise above despair, honor sacrifice with action, and never surrender hope.
Taking the Pulpit, Capt. Wala a military chaplain and ordained minister reminded worshippers that Nigeria’s fallen soldiers did not die for a nation that gives up. He quoted Isaiah 40:31: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength…” and urged every Nigerian to become a living monument to the fallen.
Representing Governor Bassey Otu, the Cross River State House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon.Elvert Ayambem announced a donation of ₦10 million toward welfare initiatives for widows and orphans of fallen soldiers.
In closing remarks, Brigadier General P.O. Alimikhema, Commander of 13 Brigade, thanked all attendees, especially the clergy, civilian leaders, Government officials for showing up in solidarity. He affirmed: "we are here to console and honor the family who bear the pains of lost"
He reminded the congregation that we are to Console the family of the fallen heroes, Celebrate and strengthen the Veterans.
The service included hymns of praise, scripture readings, presentation by CWF and moments of silent reflection, ending with a collective prayer for peace, unity, and renewed national purpose.
