The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Prof. Stephen Odey, has charged principals and head teachers in the Central Senatorial District to demonstrate strong leadership, accountability and commitment to improving teaching and learning.
Speaking during an interactive session with school heads, Senator Odey urged them to comply with Ministry directives on school administration, ensure proper registration of students, maintain accurate records and embrace the Student Identification Number (SIN) system as part of efforts to strengthen digital education management.
He warned against illegal levies and unauthorised collection of funds, stressing the need for transparency and accountability in the management of school resources.
The Commissioner further urged school heads to maintain clean and conducive learning environments, utilise the revised curriculum, ensure timely submission of continuous assessment records, protect government property and live up to their responsibilities.
He disclosed that the State examination results have been released, commending Governor Bassey Edet Otu for providing the necessary funds that enabled the prompt release.
Senator Odey assured teachers of the administration's commitment to improving their welfare and called on all education stakeholders to work collectively towards a more efficient and effective education system.
Stakeholders and school heads commended the Commissioner for his consistent engagement with education managers, describing the interactions as valuable in addressing challenges and advancing the education sector in the State.
