The Cross River State Special Advisers Forum has commended Governor Bassey Edet Otu for restoring the joy, colour and global appeal of Carnival Calabar, describing the 2025 edition as a clear demonstration of purposeful leadership and a renewed commitment to the state’s cultural identity.
In a statement signed by the Secretary of the Cross River State Special Advisers Forum and Special Adviser to the Governor on Asset Management and Recovery, Barr. Gilbert Agbor, the Forum noted that the return of the mirthful spirit to Africa’s biggest street party rekindled excitement among residents and visitors alike, reaffirming Cross River State’s place as Nigeria’s foremost tourism destination.
The Advisers said the Governor’s support and strategic direction gave the carnival a fresh vibrancy that resonated among tourists and fun seekers across the world.
The Forum also lauded Governor Otu for the bountiful Christmas largesse that made the festive season memorable for thousands of Cross Riverians. According to the Advisers, the Governor’s benevolence filtered down to the grassroots, as political appointees, inspired by his example, reached out to constituents, supporters and vulnerable persons in their various communities.
They conveyed to the Governor that the grassroots masses deeply appreciate his generosity, noting that the Yuletide season was made even sweeter by his people-oriented gestures, which fostered unity, hope and a sense of belonging among the citizenry.
On behalf of members, the Forum expressed gratitude to Governor Otu for the opportunity to serve and contribute their quota to the development of Cross River State. They pledged their unflinching loyalty and continued support to the Otu-led administration, assuring him of their readiness to advance his vision of a prosperous, inclusive and people-focused Cross River.
