The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has urged members of staff to uphold unity, humility, integrity and teamwork, describing these values as critical to building a harmonious workplace and advancing the institution’s development.
The charge was given during the university’s monthly staff prayer session held at the Conference Room of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, where Evangelist Ayang-Ifiok Umoren, Lead Pastor of God of Wonders Ministry, delivered a message on the importance of unity and collective responsibility.
Drawing inspiration from Ecclesiastes 4:9–12 and Amos 3:3, Evangelist Umoren stressed that meaningful progress was best achieved through cooperation, mutual support and a shared commitment to common goals.
He explained that no individual could achieve meaningful success in isolation, noting that teamwork creates strength and makes difficult tasks easier to accomplish. Illustrating his message with a broom, he observed that while a single strand could easily break, several strands bound together become strong enough to perform demanding tasks.
The guest minister also highlighted humility, love and mutual respect as indispensable qualities for effective leadership and positive workplace relationships. He encouraged staff to communicate constructively, correct one another with love and demonstrate through their conduct the values they profess.

On institutional integrity, Evangelist Umoren cautioned against bribery and examination malpractice, warning that such practices undermine the credibility and reputation of the university. He urged staff to discharge their responsibilities with honesty, fairness and professionalism.
He subsequently offered prayers and prophetic declarations for greater visibility, expansion and advancement of UNICROSS, committing the university, its management and workforce into God’s hands for continued progress and accomplishments.
In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey, prayed for the protection, good health and general well-being of members of the university community, seeking God’s continued guidance and blessings upon the institution.
Prof. Bassey also offered prayers for the guest minister, asking God to strengthen and bless him for his spiritual contributions and commitment to the university community.
The monthly prayer session provides an avenue for spiritual fellowship, reflection and the promotion of shared values among members of staff, reflecting the university management’s commitment to nurturing a peaceful, united and productive institutional environment.
