UNICROSS Deepens Global Academic Footprint at International Conference in Cape Verde

The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has recorded another major milestone in its pursuit of internationalisation, academic excellence and global collaboration with the participation of a high-powered delegation at the 4th Annual International Conference of the Department of Psychology, University of Cape Verde.

The conference, organised in collaboration with the International Association of Technology and Arts Teachers (IATATA), is holding from July 6 to 9, 2026, under the theme, “Sustainability, Green Innovation and Education.” It has attracted scholars, researchers, policymakers and development practitioners from across the world to explore solutions to pressing global challenges, including climate change, environmental education, governance, conservation, community engagement and the advancement of Africa’s Blue-Green Economy.

Leading the UNICROSS delegation is the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey, whose administration has continued to prioritise staff development, cutting-edge research and strategic international partnerships as part of efforts to position the institution among Nigeria’s leading globally competitive universities.

The University’s participation at the prestigious conference underscores Prof. Bassey’s commitment to expanding UNICROSS’ global visibility, strengthening research capacity and creating opportunities for academic staff to engage with leading scholars and institutions around the world.

The delegation is attending the conference through sponsorship provided by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), facilitated by the strategic support and commitment of the Vice Chancellor and the University Management.

Speaking on the University’s participation, UNICROSS TETFund Desk Officer and conference participant, Dr. Anthony Otiko, commended the Vice Chancellor for her visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to staff development through international academic exposure.

He described the opportunity as a testament to the University’s growing emphasis on research excellence and global engagement, noting that participation in such high-level conferences would enhance knowledge exchange, research productivity and institutional visibility.

Other members of the delegation also expressed appreciation to Prof. Bassey and the University Management for providing them the opportunity to represent UNICROSS on the global stage. They noted that the exposure would enrich their research, foster new international collaborations and contribute significantly to the University’s academic growth and reputation.
