The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has strengthened its drive for strategic institutional collaboration with a partnership initiative involving the Cross River State Office of the Surveyor General, aimed at advancing infrastructure development, land administration, and academic excellence.
The initiative took shape on Monday, August 3, 2026, when the Vice Chancellor of UNICROSS, Prof. Francisca Bassey, paid a courtesy visit to the Cross River State Surveyor General, Surv. Patrick Edet Bassey, at his office in Calabar.
The meeting focused on fostering cooperation in critical areas, including physical campus development, sustainable infrastructure planning, land administration, and capacity building, as the university continues to expand its academic and physical footprint.
Speaking during the visit, Prof. Bassey described surveying as a cornerstone of modern infrastructure development, urban planning, environmental sustainability, and accurate geospatial data management. She noted that closer collaboration with the Office of the Surveyor General would ensure that the university’s ongoing expansion aligns with global best practices in spatial planning and development.
“As UNICROSS continues to grow and train professionals in surveying and related disciplines, a strong working relationship with the Office of the Surveyor General is essential to achieving our vision of excellence in infrastructure and academic development,” she said.
The Vice Chancellor and her delegation were warmly received by the Surveyor General and senior members of his management team, who expressed enthusiasm for a lasting institutional partnership. The Surveyor General’s team also announced plans for a reciprocal visit to the UNICROSS campus on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, to further consolidate the relationship and develop practical frameworks for collaboration.
The UNICROSS delegation expressed confidence that the partnership between the state’s flagship university and the surveying authority would enhance educational advancement, strengthen professional training, and contribute significantly to sustainable infrastructure development and effective land management across Cross River State.
