The Cross River State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk, has been honoured by Boki women for his contributions to the health sector and service to society.
Ayuk received the recognition on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Abontakon in Boki Local Government Area, where the Ochibe Banyinyi Boki Ejiemumu, a worldwide organisation of Boki women committed to promoting the growth and welfare of Boki women, conferred on him an Award for Excellence in Humanitarian Services.
The award formed part of activities marking the annual Boki Yam Festival, which provides an avenue for the community to recognise and celebrate prominent sons and daughters who have distinguished themselves through outstanding achievements and contributions to humanity and the advancement of the Boki nation.

Receiving the award, Ayuk expressed appreciation for the honour, highlighting his strong connection to Boki through his maternal lineage and dedicating the recognition to God.
“I’m a true son of Boki. I thank God for making this possible. I’m proud to have the blood of Boki running in me. I cannot thank you enough, but let me dedicate this award to God Himself, who has done so much,” Ayuk said.
Presenting the award, the President of Ochibe Banyinyi Boki Ejiemumu, Dr. Teresa Okpara Achong, said Ayuk was recognised for his contributions to the development of public health in Nigeria, humanitarian service and meaningful impact on the overall advancement and well-being of the Boki people.
Achong, who presented the award alongside the organisation’s National Treasurer, Dr. Mary Ndifon, commended Ayuk for his humanitarian service and commitment to the health sector.
She said the award should serve as a reminder of the Boki women’s appreciation for Ayuk’s efforts, particularly his contributions to healthcare and service to humanity.
“This award should always remind you of us, the Boki women. We are really happy with your humanitarian excellence and your hard work in the health sector,” she said.
