The Mayor of Calabar Municipality, Apostle James Anam has announced his intention to remodel the Ikot Ishie Market.
The Mayor disclosed this when he led Council officials on a visit to the Clan Head of Ikot Ishie, Etubom Effiom Okon Effiom and members of the Ishie Town Council.
He noted that the upgrading of the Ikot Ishie Market to the status of a modern market was one of his campaign promises to the people of Ikot Ishie.
The Mayor, who said he was disturbed by the poor state of structure and facilities at the Ikot Ishie Market, sought the permission of the Clan Head and the Town Council to carry out the remodeling of the Market.
He said the remodelling of the Ikot Ishie Market will be the first major project to be carried out by his Administration and sued for support from the Ikot Ishie Council.
The Mayor used the opportunity to express appreciation to the Clan Head for his support during his thanksgiving service and commissioning of his Church.
The Chairman of Ikot Ishie Lands Committee, Chief Eta Uso, Chief Felix Nsemo and other Clan Council members thanked the Mayor of Calabar Municipality for the visit and for planning to embark on the remodelling of the Ikot Ishie Market.
They said the Ikot Ishie Town Council was ready to provide the needed support to enable the Calabar Municipal Council, under the leadership of Apostle James Anam to succeed in all its endeavour.
They also prayed God to grant the Mayor strength to accomplish all his laudable programmes and projects for the people of Calabar Municipality.
In a brief remark, the Deputy Mayor of Calabar Municipality, Pastor Okon Nyong thanked the Ikot Ishie Town Council for the warm reception, saying the remodelling of the Ikot Ishie Market was one of numerous projects earmarked for execution by the Apostle James Anam Administration.
The Mayor was accompanied on the visit by the Secretary of the Municipal Council, Comrade Iso Bassey Edim; Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs. Ekanem Henshaw; Director, General Service and Administration, Princess Oma Bassey Edim; Director of Finance, Mr. Eyo Effiom Ephraim as well as other political appointees.
