Presenting the results to the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Stephen Odey, in Calabar on Monday, the Director, Education Resource Centre, Dr. Moses Agboreyo, and the Director of Examinations and Certificates, Mr. Asuquo Amaku, disclosed that the BECE recorded a 90.5% pass rate. They added that 3.8% of candidates failed, while 5.7% of results were withheld for various reasons.

According to them, the SSII Mock Examination also recorded an 86% pass rate, with 14% of candidates failing across public and private schools in the State.

While approving the release of the results, Prof. Odey commended the examination team for the improved process, particularly the introduction of enhanced checks in the compilation, verification, and processing of candidates’ scores.

According to him, the improved performance and transparent process reflect the Ministry’s ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening the integrity, transparency, and credibility of examinations in Cross River State.

Senator Odey warned that negligence, examination malpractice, or any conduct capable of undermining the integrity of the examination system would attract appropriate sanctions. He stressed that the future of Cross River students must be protected and their academic efforts accorded the credibility they deserve.

The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, for providing the necessary funds and support that enabled the Ministry to successfully conduct the statewide examinations.

He also commended Dr. Moses Agboreyo, Director, Education Resource Centre; Mr. Asuquo Amaku, Director of Exams and Certificates; and other management staff for their commitment, diligence, and sacrifice, including working beyond regular hours to ensure the timely processing and release of the results.

Senator Odey directed students and parents to access the examination portal to check their results, noting that early access would enable adequate preparation for the new academic session.

He further directed candidates who are unable to access their results online to visit their respective schools and meet with their Head Teachers or school authorities for assistance.

The Commissioner reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to continuous improvement in the conduct of examinations, strengthening accountability, and upholding high academic standards across basic and secondary education in Cross River State.

He said the latest results further demonstrate the state government’s determination to build an education system where quality, credibility, and excellence remain the standard.
