Cross River Assembly Applauds Governor Bassey Otu’s Transformative ProjectsIn a resounding show of support, the Cross River State House of Assembly (CRSHA) has commended Governor Bassey Otu for his visionary leadership and development strides across the state. This glowing endorsement came during an oversight visit to assess ongoing and completed projects spearheaded by the state’s Ministry of Works.
Led by Hon. Egbe Abeng Egbe, Chairman of the House Committee on Works, the Assembly team inspected an array of projects that exemplify the governor’s commitment to infrastructure development. Among the notable initiatives were the remodification of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) complex, the rehabilitation of critical road networks, the refurbishment of the historic 13 Brigade Nigerian Army Headquarters, the construction of the Adiabo-Ikoneto Road, the completion of the FRSC Road project, and the restoration of water supply facilities.
Hon. Egbe praised the scope and quality of the projects, describing them as transformative. He noted that the pace of development under Governor Otu’s administration was opening new economic opportunities for the state.
“These projects are remarkable. They symbolize a government that truly prioritizes its people,” he said. “Governor Otu’s vision of putting the people first is evident in every initiative. The Assembly will continue to support his agenda by expediting bills that drive development.”
One of the standout projects inspected was the Adiabo-Ikoneto Road, which is expected to be completed by July 2026. Engr. Amine Bechellang, Operations Manager of Zenith Construction Ltd., assured stakeholders that proactive measures, including sand filling before the rainy season, were in place to mitigate erosion risks.
Hon. Cyril Omini, Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Works, commended the project’s progress, highlighting its ambitious scale.
“Undertaking such a project without federal assistance speaks volumes about the state government’s resolve. This is a testament to the governor’s determination to prioritize infrastructure development,” he said.
The visit to the State CID complex also drew praise from the Commissioner of Police, who lauded the ongoing renovations as a morale booster for the police force.
At the 13 Brigade Nigerian Army Headquarters, Lt. Col. Aliyu Ibrahim Jibo expressed gratitude for the refurbishment of the brigade’s historic buildings.
“This brigade is not just the first but also the oldest in Nigeria. The restoration work led by Senator Bassey Otu is deeply appreciated and speaks to the governor’s respect for the legacy of this institution,” he remarked.
Responding to the accolades, Hon. Pius Ankpo, the state’s Commissioner for Works, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to development.
“The joy and commendation from stakeholders motivate us to do even more. Governor Bassey Otu’s passion for holistic growth is the driving force behind our efforts. Together, we will continue to build a prosperous Cross River State,” Ankpo said.
