The Cross River State Government has reopened the General Hospital, Obudu, restoring public healthcare services to residents of Obudu and surrounding communities.
The hospital was officially flagged off and put into use at the weekend by His Excellency Senator Ntufam Bassey Edet Otu Governor of Cross River State represented by the State Commissioner for Health, Eld. Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk, PhD, following the revival of the facility and the constitution of a new management team to oversee its operations and ensure effective service delivery.
The event was attended by senior citizens, community leaders, the Secretary of Obudu Local Government Council, Mr. Aben Emmanuel, who represented the Council Chairman, Hon. Peter Undiandeye, the Supervisor for Health, Obudu LGA, and other stakeholders.
The hospital is headed by Mr. Bob Abua, alongside the newly constituted management team, which has been charged with ensuring effective administration and quality service delivery.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Ayuk urged residents to take full advantage of the facility and patronise the hospital, assuring them that services would be offered at affordable and pocket-friendly rates.
The Commissioner said additional healthcare personnel would be deployed to the facility as the need arises, assuring residents that the Ministry of Health would closely monitor the hospital to ensure adequate staffing, effective service delivery and sustained functionality.
“We will continue to monitor this facility closely to ensure that it is adequately staffed, functional and able to provide the quality healthcare services that the people deserve,” Ayuk said.
He urged residents to take ownership of the facility by patronising its services and supporting efforts to sustain its operations.
Responding, the Secretary of Obudu Local Government Council, Mr. Aben Emmanuel, who represented the Council Chairman, Hon. Peter Undiandeye, applauded the Governor for the reopening of the General Hospital.
Emmanuel described the return of the hospital to active service as a welcome development for the people of Obudu, expressing the council’s happiness and appreciation for the revival of the facility.
He also commended the Hospital Administrator and the newly constituted management team for their efforts towards restoring the facility and ensuring its effective operation.
The reopening of General Hospital, Obudu, is expected to bring healthcare services closer to residents of the area and surrounding communities, while supporting the state government’s efforts to revitalise public healthcare facilities across Cross River State.
