As the world celebrate the International Women Day today, the Cross River Commissioner for Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development, Ntufam Emmanuel Anom has joined all well meaning and public spirited individuals to celebrate the tenacity, contributions and achievements of women the world over.

In a message of felicitations to the women especially the indigenous Cross Riverians, Ntufam Anom said the women were deserving of all recognition and praises given their sacrifices and contributions to nation building.

Anom said the 2024 theme:"Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress" was apt as the need to empower women economically in the face of daunting economic crisis was long overdue.

The Commissioner called for the strengthening of relevant frameworks and existing laws that guarantee women rights to enjoy decent standard of living, food security, nutrition, housing, quality health care and education.

Anom acknowledged the special achievements and place of the womenfolk in farming and referenced the International Labour Organization, ILO's spotlight on the essential and inseparable roles of decent work and gender equality.

He sued for proper recognition of the women and called for action for accelerating gender parity and positive change in advancing the women course.
