The Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, on Thursday monitored the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election across several wards and communities in the Northern Senatorial District, commending party members for their massive turnout and peaceful conduct during the exercise.
After participating in the primary election in his ward, Mbube West 1, the Deputy Governor embarked on visits to several wards and communities across the Northern Senatorial District to observe the exercise and engage with stakeholders and party faithful.
During the tour, he visited polling centres at Mbube West 2 Ward, St. Theresa Primary School, Abakpa (Ogoja Urban II Ward), Government Girls Secondary School, Igoli (Ogoja Urban I Ward), Community Primary School, Ibiaragidi (Ibiaragidi Ward), as well as Bedia (Angiaba/Begiaka Ward) and Ketting (Bendi I Ward) communities, where enthusiastic party supporters received him warmly.
Speaking during the visits, the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, applauded party members for reaffirming their support for the State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu as the sole APC governorship candidate, nothing their turnout is a demonstration of unity and confidence they have in the administration.
He also reaffirmed the Otu administration’s commitment to democratic values, credible political processes, and inclusive governance across the state.
Commending the orderly and transparent conduct of the exercise, Odey stated that the peaceful atmosphere witnessed during the primaries reflected the APC’s dedication to internal democracy and party cohesion as enshrined in the provisions of the party constitution.
Odey further urged eligible citizens and party faithful to participate in the ongoing voter registration and revalidation exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, active voter participation will be crucial in sustaining electoral victories for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Bassey Otu, and other APC candidates in future elections.
Council chairmen, members of the State House of Assembly, government officials, party stakeholders, and supporters were present at different locations to receive the Deputy Governor and his entourage during the monitoring exercise.
