Senator Eteng Williams Empowers 550 Constituents With N55M Grants

SENATOR Eteng Jonah Williams, representing Cross River central senatorial district, has empowered 550 constituents with N55m grants initiative.

The beneficiaries include students, market women, and farmers across Cross River Central Senatorial District with each taking home the sum of N100, 000. The event was held at Gold palm hotel Ikom at the weekend.

The grants initiative is in collaboration with National Productivity Centre and Kasal micro-finance Bank.

Speaking with THE BEAGLE NEWS on telephone, Eteng said: "This is part of my campaign promise o fostering socio-economic welfare of his constituents and bringing down dividends of democracy to the electorate.

"It is my little effort to provide economic relief, ease burden of rising food costs and aid small businesses in my constituency.

"Besides, we need to engage the people to become useful in future so they can economically independent and they contribute to economic growth within their various communities in central senatorial zone.

"We shall continue to do our best to attract empowerment schemes to our people to give them a sense of belonging."

Commending Senator Eteng Williams, one of the beneficiaries, who simply gave her name as Mrs Margaret Ojong, said: "This is the first time I am benefiting from such grants and I promise to make good use of it in my farm work. May God bless Eteng Williams for us."
