The All Progressives Congress (APC), Cross River State Chapter, has held an interactive session with critical stakeholders, party candidates, youths, women, persons with disabilities and other members of the party in Obudu, as the state party leadership continued its engagement with stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections. The Obudu APC Chapter received the State Chairman and members of his committee during the meeting, which provided an opportunity for members to discuss the progress, challenges and prospects of the party in the Local Government Area.
Welcoming the State Chairman and his committee to Obudu, the Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, Hon. Dr. Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, expressed appreciation for the visit and assured the delegation of the unity and commitment of the party in Obudu. He emphasized that the party remains focused and prepared to approach the 2027 elections as a united family, stressing the need for members to put aside differences and work collectively for the success of the APC.
Speaking on behalf of the Obudu APC leaders, High Chief Tony Undiandeye thanked the state party leadership for the visit and warmly welcomed the delegation to Obudu. He used the opportunity to highlight some of the issues and concerns affecting the party at the grassroots, while calling for continued dialogue, inclusiveness and stronger collaboration between the party leadership and members at the local level.
The Hon. Member representing Obudu State Constituency, Hon. Sylvester Agabi, who spoke on behalf of the five APC candidates, assured the State Chairman and his committee that all hands were on deck to ensure that Obudu delivers a resounding electoral victory for the party in the forthcoming polls. He called on party faithful to support one another, noting that positions and circumstances are not permanent and that members must learn to work together irrespective of their current status.
According to Hon. Agabi, “Time is but designed for all; we must not all be in the same position at all times. As party faithful, we should endeavour to support ourselves for the growth of the party.” He stressed that the collective interest of the APC must remain above individual ambitions, adding that unity and mutual support would be critical to achieving the desired results in 2027.
Several other speakers who addressed the gathering before the State Chairman commended the APC for its grassroots presence and accessibility. The representative of the Persons With Disabilities (PWD) particularly praised the party for its inclusiveness, stating that, since 2012, he had not witnessed a political party that had accommodated persons with disabilities in such a meaningful way, including appointing members of the group at both state and local government levels in Cross River State.
The Obudu APC Chapter Women Leader and the Chapter Youth Leader also commended the party leadership while calling on members, particularly those at the grassroots, to remain committed to the party’s growth and success. They emphasized the important roles of women and youths in mobilizing support and ensuring that the APC records a total victory in the 2027 elections.
The meeting was also attended by several notable APC stakeholders and leaders from Obudu, including the Vice Chairperson of Council, Hon. Rhoda Ashong; Hon. Dr. Kenn Akla; Hon. Boniface Ewhe; Sir P.J. Ekunke; Mr. Emmanuel Aben; Mr. James Aricha; Hon. Amos Abua; Chief Mathias Ake; Mrs. Mary Asabe Ugbe; Dr. Iseac Ishamali; Hon. Emmanuel Akwagiobe; Hon. Tony Adah; and Hon. Victor Afebende, alongside a host of other party leaders and stakeholders who graced the important engagement.
In his response, the APC Cross River State Chairman appealed to all members to intensify voter mobilization and ensure that supporters come out in large numbers on election day. He urged party members to work across polling units and remain committed to delivering the party at the grassroots. He further appealed to members to allow all anger and grievances within the party to melt away, stressing that reconciliation, forgiveness and unity were necessary for the APC to achieve victory.
In his closing remarks, the Chairman of the APC Obudu Chapter, Comrade Joseph Odama, thanked the State Chairman and his committee for the interactive engagement and appreciated all stakeholders, candidates, women, youths and other party faithful for their contributions.
Comrade Odama reaffirmed the commitment of the Obudu Chapter to the ideals of the APC and assured the state leadership that the chapter would continue to strengthen its grassroots structures and maintain constant engagement with members. He called on all party faithful to close ranks, respect one another and work together for the common interest of the party.
He urged members to take the message of unity beyond the meeting hall and into the wards and polling units, stressing that the success of the APC in 2027 would depend largely on the ability of members to remain united, mobilize effectively and work as one family.
The chapter chairman thanked the delegation once again for the engagement, describing the interactive session as a timely opportunity to strengthen the bond between the state leadership and the grassroots. He declared the readiness of the Obudu APC Chapter to work with all stakeholders and contribute its quota towards securing victory for the party at all levels in the forthcoming elections.
