Persons displaced by recent flooding across Cross River State have received relief support from a private Cross Riverian living abroad, who donated assorted food items and other essential household materials through the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (CR-SEMA).
The donor, simply identified as Mr. Peter, wished to remain anonymous but provided food items, beverages, washing materials and other household essentials to help cushion the hardship faced by flood-affected persons across the state.
The items were presented to the Director-General of CR-SEMA, Mr. Efa Nyong, by the Director-General of the Cross River State Debt Management Department, Mr. Ekpe Essien Ekpe, who represented the donor.
Receiving the items, Nyong expressed appreciation to the donor for the gesture, describing the support as timely and valuable to persons affected by the disaster.
He said the flooding had disrupted the lives and livelihoods of many residents, noting that the intervention would contribute to alleviating the difficulties confronting affected communities.
The CR-SEMA boss commended Mr. Peter for identifying with flood-affected persons at a critical time, despite living outside the country, and for demonstrating concern for the welfare of fellow Cross Riverians.
Nyong also called on individuals, organisations and other well-meaning members of the public to emulate the gesture by supporting ongoing efforts to provide relief and assistance to communities affected by the flooding.
He assured that CR-SEMA would continue to work with relevant stakeholders and partners to respond to the needs of persons affected by flooding across the state.
“CR-SEMA will continue to work with relevant stakeholders and partners in responding to the needs of persons affected by flooding across the state,” Nyong assured.
