Cross River outlines activities for Independence celebration

The Government of Cross River State has outlined a 3-day activity for the celebration of Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary.

This was made known in a press release signed by Dr Erasmus Ekpang, Commissioner for Information, on Friday, 20th September.

“As part of activities to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary Celebration in Cross River State, His Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu has approved the following activities;

Friday, 27th September 2024 – Muslim Ju’mat Service at the Calabar Central Mosque, No. 100 Calabar Road, Calabar at 2:00pm.

Sunday, 29th September 2024 — Interdenominational Christian Church Service at Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Duke Town Parish, Eyamba Street, Calabar by 9:00am.

Tuesday, 1st October 2024 – The Anniversary Celebration at the Main Bowl of U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar, by 10:00am, featuring a Ceremonial Parade by the Nigeria Police and Match Past by School Children and Uniform Organisations.

“Accordingly, His Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State is inviting the Deputy Governor, Speaker and members of the Cross River State House of Assembly, the State Chief Judge, members of the State Executive Council, Secretary to the State Government, the Head of Service, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Service Commanders, members of the Diplomatic Corps, Permanent Secretaries, Captains of Industries, Leaders of Political Parties, all Political Appointees, Religious Leaders, our Revered Traditional Rulers, Civil and Public Servants, the Business Community, Members of the Press and the General Public, to attend these events of the 64th Independence Anniversary of our dear Country in the State,” the statement read.
