Cross River State Captivates Global Audience at London Tech Week 2026, Showcasing the Future of Culture, Tourism and Digital Innovation

When the world's brightest technology minds gathered at London Tech Week 2026, Cross River State arrived with a story unlike any other.

While many exhibitors showcased software, artificial intelligence, robotics and emerging technologies, Cross River State, through the Cross River State Carnival Commission in partnership with Nugi Technologies, presented something equally powerful: a vision where culture, tourism and technology work together to create economic opportunities, connect people across continents and redefine how destinations engage with the world.

For three exciting days at Olympia London, the Nugi Technologies exhibition stand became a hub of curiosity, conversation and discovery. Delegates from across Europe, North America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East stopped to experience a destination that is not only rich in culture but is also embracing digital innovation as a catalyst for growth.

The undisputed centrepiece of the exhibition was Carnival Calabar, Africa's biggest street party.

Visitors were immediately drawn to the colour, music, costumes and energy that have made the carnival one of Africa's most recognisable cultural experiences. Yet beyond the spectacle was an even more compelling story: how technology is transforming the way one of Africa's largest cultural festivals is experienced, managed and shared with the world.

Many visitors were fascinated to learn that Cross River State is leveraging digital platforms to make Carnival Calabar more accessible than ever before. Conversations that began with admiration for the costumes quickly evolved into discussions about tourism development, cultural preservation, digital engagement and the enormous economic value that cultural festivals can generate when supported by innovative technology.

The response throughout the exhibition was remarkable.

Over the three-day event, the Nugi Technologies stand welcomed a significant number of visitors, including government representatives, technology founders, investors, tourism stakeholders, software developers, media professionals and innovation leaders. Many described the exhibition as one of the most unique showcases at London Tech Week 2026, blending heritage with innovation in a way that demonstrated that technology is not only about software but also about creating meaningful human experiences.

A major highlight of the exhibition was the demonstration of the My Cross River App, an all-in-one digital platform designed to connect citizens, visitors, and the global community with government services and cultural experiences.

Particular interest centred on the Carnival Registration and Voting Platform, an innovative solution that enables members of the diaspora to register for their preferred carnival bands and participate securely in carnival voting from anywhere in the world.

The platform demonstrates how technology can remove geographical barriers while strengthening cultural identity. It allows carnival enthusiasts abroad to remain active participants in one of the state's most celebrated events, reinforcing the bond between the homeland and its global community.

Beyond improving convenience, the platform reflects a broader vision for digitally enabled tourism. By simplifying registration, increasing participation, expanding international engagement, and creating seamless digital experiences, Cross River State is setting a new benchmark for how governments can leverage technology to elevate cultural tourism.

The exhibition also highlighted the broader digital transformation journey taking place across the state through solutions developed by Nugi Technologies. Visitors gained insight into how locally developed technology is supporting smarter governance, improving public service delivery, enhancing citizen engagement, and creating digital infrastructure capable of supporting sustainable development.

The partnership between the Cross River State Carnival Commission and Nugi Technologies served as a compelling example of what can be achieved when government institutions and indigenous technology companies work together with a shared vision. Rather than viewing culture and technology as separate sectors, the collaboration demonstrated that innovation can amplify heritage, strengthen institutions, promote destinations, and create measurable economic value.

Beyond the exhibition itself, London Tech Week 2025 created opportunities for strategic engagement with global technology companies, investors, policymakers, development partners, and innovation leaders. These interactions generated valuable conversations around tourism promotion, digital government, cultural technology, investment opportunities, and international collaboration, further positioning Cross River State as an emerging destination for innovation and enterprise.

The message shared with the world throughout the three-day event was clear.

Cross River State is not only home to one of Africa's greatest cultural festivals. It is a state embracing innovation, investing in digital transformation, and creating modern solutions that connect culture, governance, tourism, and people.

The conversations that began in London have laid the foundation for future collaborations, greater international visibility and expanded opportunities for investment and tourism.

Cross River State has once again demonstrated that while culture tells our story, innovation carries that story to the world.
